New real estate and reduced salary: what the declaration of the mayor of Bashtanka revealed

The mayor of Bashtanka , Oleksandr Berehovoi, declared significant amounts of real estate, land plots and commercial premises in different regions. At the same time, the document showed an increase in his family's wealth - from hundreds of thousands to millions of hryvnias.

This was reported by the Center for Public Investigations.

The official listed his family in the report: his wife Yelyzaveta and sons Mykhailo and Roman. Together, they declared an impressive list of property, mostly concentrated in Bashtanka in Mykolaiv region, as well as in Mykolaiv and other regions.

The mayor owns several residential and commercial properties. In particular, in 2008, he purchased a 145.7 m² non-residential building and a 49.5 m² house for UAH 171,700. In 2010, he added another 65.1 m² building to his assets, which is currently valued at UAH 299,776.

Subsequently, he continued to expand his property: in 2021, he acquired two land plots of 637 m² (UAH 114,103) and 363 m² (UAH 162,556), as well as a large non-residential building of 243.6 m². In 2024, he registered another plot of 1000 m² worth UAH 179,125.

A leased plot of 100 m² owned by the Bashtanka City Council but used by the mayor was declared separately.

A significant part of the assets is registered in the name of his wife , Yelyzaveta Berehova. In particular, in 2014, she purchased a non-residential building with an area of 251.84 m² for UAH 83,818. In 2019, she registered another commercial property in Mykolaiv (46.2 m²) for more than UAH 350,000, as well as a 44 m² apartment worth UAH 148,689.

In 2020-2021, she became the owner of several land plots in Bashtanka - 55.261 m² (UAH 143,817) and 16.047 m² (UAH 43,385), as well as a 23.4 m² garage (UAH 30,001).

In 2023, she purchased a 101.7 m² non-residential property in Pyatikhatki for UAH 341,320, and in 2025, a large commercial property in Pervomaisk (426.8 m²) for UAH 2 million. In addition, she has another 366 m² plot of land owned by the city council.

The declaration also lists three vehicles. The mayor himself owns a 2008 passenger trailer, while his wife has two cars registered in her name: Skoda Kodiaq 2021 (over UAH 1.06 million) and Skoda Kamiq 2023 (UAH 941 thousand).

The family's income comes from business, salaries, property sales, and government payments. The wife declared the largest income - UAH 5.8 million from business activities (last year - UAH 2.9 million). She also received UAH 37,044 from rent, UAH 100,000 from the sale of land, and UAH 240,000 from the sale of a car.

Berehovoi himself declared UAH 658,953 in salary at the city council (previously - UAH 854,030), as well as minor government payments - UAH 1,167 under the National Cashback program and a thousand in Winter Support.

The family's monetary assets are represented exclusively by cash. His wife keeps 1.2 million hryvnias and 25 thousand US dollars, while the mayor himself keeps 140 thousand hryvnias.

They also indicated a loan issued to his wife in December 2023 in the amount of UAH 168,487. It was fully repaid, and the loan was secured by a car.

In August 2025, the mayor of Bashtanka , Oleksandr Berehove, was served with a notice of suspicion of embezzlement of budget funds and facilitating their misappropriation during the purchase of clothing for the military. According to the investigation, he could have embezzled about a third of the allocated funds by inflating prices.
