In Mykolaiv, they planned to build a protective structure for a local kindergarten. To implement the initiative, a project must be developed and an expert evaluation must be conducted. It is planned to complete the arrangement of the shelter for children by the end of 2026.

The relevant draft decision was preliminarily reviewed at a meeting of the executive committee of the Mykolaiv City Council.

The Mykolaiv City Council has prepared amendments to the City's Economic and Social Development Program for 2024-2026.

The amendments provide for clarifications in the section on the Capital Construction Department. In particular, paragraph 89 of the program was set out in a new version - it concerns the construction of a radiation shelter for preschool No. 65.

According to the decision, the project includes not only the construction itself, but also design and survey work and expertise. The initiative is scheduled to be implemented by 2026.

Control over the implementation of the decision was entrusted to the city council's standing committee on economics and budget, as well as to the first deputy mayor Volodymyr Lukov.

Recently, two new shelters were opened in Voznesenskiy district for students of the local lyceum and kindergarten. They were built with the support of theOlena Zelenska Foundation and the Serbian government.

The shelters are designed for more than 800 schoolchildren and 90 preschoolers. They are equipped with ventilation, sanitary areas, water supplies, and everything necessary to stay in times of danger. They also plan to conduct safety trainings there.

And in early March, Mykolaiv set up a bomb shelter in an out-of-school education institution for the first time. The shelter appeared in a house of children and youth creativity in one of the city's districts, so now children will be able to study even during air raids.

In Bashtanka, a modern radiation shelter will soon be built on the territory of the sports complex. The project worth more than UAH 20 million will make it possible to conduct training and sports events even in emergency conditions.
