Mykolaiv Air Defense Destroys Russian Attack Drone Amid Ongoing Shelling

On the night of March 8, air defense forces destroyed a Russian attack drone that tried to attack Mykolaiv region.

This was reported by the head of the Mykolaiv Air Defense Forces Vitaliy Kim.

At the same time, the enemy did not stop shelling: On March 7, Russian troops attacked the Kutsurubska community seven times with FPV drones and also fired artillery at around 08:43 am.

In the village of Parutino, a 51-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man were injured in one of the attacks. The man received medical aid on the spot, and the woman was hospitalized in Mykolaiv. Her condition is currently stable. The attacks damaged two residential buildings.

The village of Dmytrivka also came under enemy fire. A building on the territory of a production facility was damaged, but there were no casualties.

Meanwhile, in the morning at 7:42 a.m. on March 8, an explosion was heard in Mykolaiv. An air raid alert was declared in the region, and a few minutes later the Air Force warned of a ballistic missile threat.

"Threat of ballistic weapons use from Crimea, in the areas where air alert has been declared," they said at 7:44 a.m.

A few minutes later, local residents heard the sound of an explosion. No official information has been received yet.

In February 2025, 3,121 air raid alarms sounded in Mykolaiv region. The average duration of the alarms was 1 hour 4 minutes and 59 seconds, with the longest one sounding on February 28 and lasting 3 hours 33 minutes and 18 seconds. The media reported explosions 405 times. The highest number of reports of explosions was in Mykolaiv, Ochakiv, Voznesensk, Snihurivka, Novyi Buh, and Pivdenoukrainsk.

In January 2025, the longest air raid alert in Mykolaiv region lasted almost ten hours. On average, the danger signal was heard for about two hours. The longest air alert was recorded on January 27: the alert began at 20:29 and lasted 9 hours, 51 minutes, and 53 seconds. In total, the air alert was announced 77 times during the month.

At the end of last year, the local authorities formed a budget to finance public protection measures.
