More than a billion hryvnias allocated to support residents of Kherson region

In 11 months of 2024, more than UAH 1 billion was allocated to support more than 25,000 residents of Kherson Oblast registered with the region's social services.

According to Yaroslav Shanko, Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional Department of Social Services, the assistance was paid to orphans, low-income families, people with disabilities and families in difficult life circumstances.

According to him, the regional budget allocated UAH 64 million for more than 11,000 residents who received financial assistance. The families of the fallen military and civilians, the wounded also received support, and those in difficulty were provided with targeted assistance.

In addition, health improvement and rehabilitation was organized for children. Citizens affected by the Chornobyl disaster were paid almost UAH 8 million for food, health care, rehabilitation and additional vacations. People with disabilities who suffered from munitions explosions received over UAH 230 thousand.

In addition, 53 servicemen discharged from military service received financial assistance totaling over UAH 117 thousand.

The official noted that 17 institutions providing social services to the population are currently operating in the de-occupied territory of the region, providing the necessary support in difficult times.

Earlier, Intent reported that almost UAH 30 million of targeted financial assistance was allocated to residents of the Kherson community.

Prior to that, Roman Mrochko, the head of Kherson MVA, said that every resident of the community who was injured as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, as well as relatives of the victims, have the right to apply to district councils in Kherson and receive payments under the city's comprehensive Social Protection program.
