As of the morning of October 1, about 42,000 customers in 32 towns and villages of Odesa Oblast are still without power. The most difficult situation remains in Odesa.
According to the press service of Odesa's DTEK, over the past day, power companies have already restored electricity to 112,000 families in 188 settlements. The specialists are currently working in an intensive mode, repairing equipment of high and medium voltage class first, and then moving on to repair 0.4 kV networks and point applications.
The company urges residents to be patient: the consequences of the disaster are large-scale, but all emergency crews are involved to restore power to every home as soon as possible.
According to Odesa City Council, the situation with traffic lights in the city is as follows:
They do not work:
Switch to yellow flashing mode:
Emergency shutdowns:
Nine people, including one child, died as a result of the weather in Odesa. The bad weather caused serious damage: flooding of roads, power outages, damage to property, and falling trees.
The bodies of five people were found in Sergei Eisenstein Lane: 2 men, 2 women and a girl of about 8 years old. They are currently being identified. Rescuers do not have access to the bodies as the water is being pumped out. Two more bodies were found on Balkivska Street: an unidentified woman aged 55-65 and a local resident born in 1987. The body of another woman born in 1968 was found on Dacha Kovalevskoho Street. Cases of hypothermia due to prolonged exposure to water have also been reported. The victims are being provided with the necessary medical care.
Utilities, rescuers and power engineers are working around the clock.
Meanwhile, the mayor's office published a video reporting that almost two months' worth of rain fell in Odesa in 7 hours.
