9 people died as a result of bad weather in Odesa

According to preliminary data, 9 people died as a result of the weather in Odesa, including one child. The storm caused serious damage: flooding of roads, power outages, property damage, and trees falling down. The weather also claimed human lives.

This was reported by Oleh Kiper, the head of Odesa Regional Military District Administration.

The bodies of five people were found in Serhiy Eisenstein Lane: 2 men, 2 women and a girl of about 8 years old. They are currently being identified. Rescuers do not have access to the bodies as the water is being pumped out.

Two more bodies were found on Balkivska Street: an unidentified woman aged 55-65 and a local resident born in 1987. The body of another woman born in 1968 was found on Dacha Kovalevskoho Street.

Cases of hypothermia due to prolonged exposure to water have also been reported. The victims are being provided with the necessary medical care.

Utilities, rescuers and power engineers are working around the clock.

More than 500 employees and 85 vehicles are involved in the response to the storm, including pumping out water, clearing roads and repairing power grids. 362 people were rescued and 227 vehicles were evacuated.

As of now, 42,000 people in 32 villages and towns are temporarily without electricity. The most difficult situation is in Odesa.

Meanwhile, the mayor's office published a video reporting that almost two months' worth of rain fell in Odesa in 7 hours.
