The Izmail City District Court of Odesa Oblast found the minor guilty of intentional damage to electric power facilities and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment.
However, according to the court' s verdict, he was released from serving his sentence on probation for one year and ordered to periodically report for registration to the authorized probation body; notify the authorized probation body of changes in his place of residence, work or study; and not travel outside Ukraine without the consent of the authorized probation body.
On November 26, 2024, he set fire to a substation in the village of Kyslytsia, Izmail district, having previously spilled a flammable substance on it. The damage amounted to UAH 2,386.
On November 28 of the same year, in the same village, he set fire to another substation, and this time the damage amounted to UAH 8,981.
At the court hearing, the defendant pleaded guilty to the charges against him. During the trial, he described in detail the circumstances of the crimes and sincerely repented of committing them, without questioning the circumstances of the case set out in the indictment. The guy explained that he committed the crimes under the circumstances described above, explaining his behavior by the fact that he did not consider the consequences of his actions.
Taking into account the defendant's full admission of guilt to the extent of the charges against him, as well as the fact that he did not question the circumstances of the case as set out in the indictment, the court correctly understood the content of these circumstances and imposed a probationary period on him.
The representative of the accused was charged with documented costs of engaging experts to conduct forensic examinations in the amount of UAH 48,549 in favor of the state. The verdict may be appealed to the Odesa Court of Appeal through the Izmail City District Court within 30 days of its announcement.
