The Ukrainian Language Testing Center will operate at Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University.
According to the Mykolaiv City Council, it will be used to conduct exams to determine the level of proficiency in the state language, as well as to verify and evaluate the results.
The exam will be open to civil servants, employees of local governments and other government agencies, as well as anyone wishing to confirm their level of Ukrainian. Based on the test results, participants will receive a certificate.
Rector of the University Leonid Klymenko noted that the development of the Ukrainian language and the study of history is one of the priorities of the institution. According to him, the opening of the Center was a logical continuation of these areas.
In addition to conducting exams, the institution plans to organize training courses for those who will take the test.
As Intent previously wrote, a professor at Odesa National Technological University was fired following the results of state control over violations of language legislation.
As a reminder, in 2025, almost 6,000 violations of language legislation were recorded in Odesa and more than 1,700 Russian-language advertising structures were dismantled. In turn, the deputy head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Olga Lozova, called on Odesa residents to join this work and organize a flash mob to replace Russian-language inscriptions with Ukrainian ones in their own space.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution amending the Regulation on the National Commission for the Crimean Tatar Language. The decision is aimed at intensifying the protection of the indigenous language and coordinating the implementation of the State Strategy for 2022-2032.
The National Commission was established by a government decision in early 2023 to address the problematic issues of language development. One of the most significant results of its activities was the approval of a new spelling of the Crimean Tatar language based on the Latin script.
