Russian forces have increased the range of their drone strikes on the Kherson region, expanding the so-called “kill zone” by another 3–5 kilometers. Currently, the occupiers are attempting to strike targets at distances of up to 20–25 kilometers, posing an additional threat to logistics and civilian infrastructure.

Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, reported this during a televised marathon.

According to him, Russian troops have not reduced the number of strikes using FPV drones. They carry out about 2,200–2,400 strikes daily, and up to 15,000 per week.

At the same time, Voloshin noted, the enemy has increased its use of aircraft-type drones, particularly the “Molniya,” as well as loitering munitions such as the “Lancet.” It is these weapons that have allowed the strike zone to expand by several kilometers.

Compared to May, the “kill zone” has expanded by 3–5 kilometers. Now the Russians are attempting to strike at ranges of up to 20–25 kilometers, primarily along logistics routes, the spokesperson explained.

According to Voloshin, this has significantly increased the burden on Ukrainian electronic warfare units and other forces countering drones. To protect logistics, the military is, in particular, setting up anti-drone tunnels and implementing other engineering solutions.

In addition, the spokesperson reported that the Russian special forces unit “Varyag” is active in the Dnipro region, which includes the Kherson Oblast. According to him, the unit uses modern drones—including fiber-optic-guided ones—and is carrying out strikes deep into Ukrainian territory. Voloshin also links some of the attacks on gas stations in southern Ukraine to the activities of this unit.

As a reminder, the occupiers are actively expanding their drone units operating in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region. This involves not only increasing the number of operators but also significantly boosting their combat capabilities.
