In the Kherson region, the director of a construction company and a technical supervision engineer will stand trial in a case involving the repair of war-damaged buildings. According to the investigation, the community suffered nearly half a million in damages.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, in November 2023, the company carried out major repairs on residential buildings in the village of Tavriiske, Kherson District, which had been damaged as a result of hostilities. The Bilozerska Village Council was the client for the work.

Investigators believe that the director of the construction company included false information about the scope of repairs in the work completion reports and signed the documents, after which they were submitted to the settlement council for payment.

More than 900,000 hryvnias were transferred from the community’s budget to the company’s account. At the same time, part of the work stated in the documents was not actually performed, which, according to the investigation, caused the community more than 470,000 hryvnias in losses.

The company director was charged with embezzlement and misappropriation of another’s property through abuse of official position, as well as entering knowingly false information into official documents.

The technical supervision engineer is also accused of professional negligence. According to the investigation, he failed to properly verify the actual scope and quality of the work performed but signed the relevant certificates.

As noted by the prosecutor’s office, the losses incurred by the community budget have already been fully compensated during the pretrial investigation. The court will determine the guilt of the accused.

Also in August, the reconstruction of the war-ravaged village of Posad-Pokrovsky in the Kherson region became the focus of an investigation. Law enforcement officials are examining whether budget funds allocated for the village’s reconstruction may have been misused.
