In Odesa, teenagers staged a shootout on the street but got off with a fine

Odessa police have located four teenagers who appeared in a video showing a shooting in a residential area of the Kyivsky District. One of them, a 16-year-old boy, fired a starter pistol into the air.

This was reported by the press service of the Odesa Regional Police.

The video shows four boys riding electric bicycles down the street, and one of them firing a shot into the air. Law enforcement officers came across this video while monitoring social media. The shooting took place on the afternoon of August 24.

The police quickly identified the individuals—they turned out to be local boys aged 15 to 17. The shot was fired by a 16-year-old member of the group. At first, they thought it was a noise-making pistol, but the boy himself explained that it was a starter pistol—he threw it away after the shooting. He explained his actions simply: he wanted to have some fun.

All the boys, along with their parents, were summoned to the police station for a preventive talk. According to law enforcement officials, none of the families had previously come to the attention of the police, nor were they registered with social services.

The 16-year-old shooter was charged with petty hooliganism (Article 173 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

Since he has already reached the age of administrative responsibility, he will be held personally accountable for his actions.

Under the law, the court may impose a fine, assign community service or correctional labor, or order administrative detention.

Thus, for now, the teenager has received an administrative citation for the shooting, and the final decision on his punishment will be made by the court.

The police once again reminded parents: it is important to take an interest in what their children are doing in their free time and to explain to them the consequences of such “entertainment.”
