A police official who spread pro-Russian propaganda on social media was exposed in Mykolaiv region. She was notified of suspicion of justifying and glorifying Russia's armed aggression.
This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, the head of the temporary detention center No. 2 was found to have justified, denied and recognized the legitimacy of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, as well as glorified its participants under Part 2, Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code.
Law enforcement officers found that the suspect used TikTok and telegram to disseminate anti-Ukrainian content, leave comments and reposts, supporting the "transfer" of certain Ukrainian regions to Russian control and calls for a violent change of government. A linguistic examination confirmed the unlawful nature of her statements.
During the search, her cell phone with evidence of illegal activity was seized. Currently, she has been placed under nightly house arrest, and the sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years in prison. The investigation was conducted by the SBU in Mykolaiv region jointly with the Internal Security Department of the National Police and investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation in Mykolaiv.
In January, the Court of Appeal upheld the sentence of a 63-year-old resident of Mykolaiv region who was convicted of aiding the Russian military during the occupation. The man helped the aggressors detain his fellow villagers for torture.
According to the investigation, in July 2022, during the occupation of a village in Mykolaiv district, he assisted the Russian military in establishing the places of residence of local residents and participating in the detention of fellow villagers. The detainees were severely tortured: they were beaten, the execution of two people was staged, and threatened with reprisals against their families and shelling of the village with Grad rocket systems.
