The former mayor is charged with criminal offenses under Article 255(1), Article 28(4) and Article 364(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Recently, the former mayor of Odesa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, stated that he had official documents confirming that he does not have Russian citizenship. According to him, he received a response on December 30, 2025. He also appealed to President Zelenskyy to have the documents verified and to make a fair decision.

In October last year, Trukhanov and his deputies were suspected of negligence in office, which caused the deaths of people during the September 30 floods.
