Government gives 30 million to universities in Mykolaiv region

The government has allocated over UAH 30 million to support universities in Mykolaiv region. Educational institutions continue to operate despite daily shelling and air raids.

This was stated by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said that the government has allocated an additional UAH 30.6 million to support universities in Mykolaiv region.

"We continue the program initiated by the President of Ukraine to support frontline higher education institutions," Svyrydenko said.

According to her, the funds will be allocated to universities that continue to operate despite the shelling and constant air raids. She added that UAH 300 million had previously been allocated under this program for universities in Sumy, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the current task is to strengthen educational institutions in the frontline regions so that they can continue to educate and train specialists.

In April, the government decided to allocate funds for the construction of shelters in schools. A total of UAH 829.2 million of state budget subventions were distributed to local communities to create safe conditions in general secondary education institutions. The funding will be allocated to communities in Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

In particular, in Mykolaiv region, the Arbuzynska settlement community will receive UAH 1.8 million.

In March, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure and conditions for granting a subvention of UAH 499.4 million to create a modern educational space as part of the reform of the Profile High School, the third stage of the New Ukrainian School.

These funds will be used to purchase modern equipment, furniture, and teaching aids for biology, geography, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and STEM laboratories. The subvention was to be allocated to communities in Mykolaiv Oblast: Pivdennoukrainska urban, Mykolaiv settlement, Mykolaiv city, Novoodesa city, Ochakiv city, Pervomaisk city, Pryvilnenska rural, Syniukhynobridska and Stepivska.
