Mykolaiv has amended the city's comprehensive Education program for 2025-2027. This decision concerns both financing and key measures that will contribute to the development of the city's educational system.

The decision was made at a session of the Mykolaiv City Council.

The program provides for significant support for general secondary education institutions, including special and preschool departments, as well as expanding opportunities for creative teaching teams and gifted children.

The main changes include ensuring the proper functioning of educational institutions. According to the updated program, it is planned to spend more than UAH 5.17 million on the operation of general secondary education institutions, including special and preschool departments. The funds will be distributed among various sources of funding.

A significant amount of funding has also been allocated to support the operation of after-school care centers in the city's schools - UAH 9.53 million from the local budget. This will help create favorable conditions for students who need extra time to study or develop extracurricular activities.

The program pays special attention to the development of students' intellectual and creative abilities. In particular, the program provides for scholarships to the winners of the III and IV stages of the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiads, research competitions, as well as scholarships from the City Council and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for the winners of academic competitions. The total amount of funding for these activities is UAH 1.375 million, which will be provided from the local budget.

Compared to the previous version of the program, there has been some adjustment in the amount of funding, in particular in terms of the costs of operating educational institutions. In general, the changes are aimed at optimizing the use of budget funds, maintaining financial support for the main educational areas and ensuring equal access to educational opportunities for all students.

The government is also considering providing free lunches to high school students at the expense of the state budget. Currently, 7,749 students receive free meals, which is 21% of the total number of schoolchildren.

In addition, Mykolaiv plans to create specialized centers for studying the subject"Defense of Ukraine" where students from different educational institutions will be able to come to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities in specially equipped rooms.
