Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson Regions Receive ₴829.2M for School Shelters

Some communities in Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions will receive state funding to equip shelters in schools.

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted the relevant order on April 18, according to the government portal.

In total, the government has allocated UAH 829.2 million in subventions from the state budget to local budgets to create safe conditions in general secondary education institutions.

The funds are to be used to create or modernize shelters in schools, including military and sports lyceums, to ensure the safe stay of children and teachers during the educational process.

Communities in Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions will receive funding:
Odesa region:

Total in Odesa Oblast: UAH 151.18 million.

Mykolaiv Oblast:

Kherson region:

Total in Kherson region: UAH 47.14 million.

Earlier, Intent wrote that the contract for the construction of an underground school for more than 90 million in Kherson was awarded to a company with political connections, whose director is a defendant in a criminal case on bribery.

Meanwhile, there are plans to build a radiation shelter on the territory of the Mayakivsky Lyceum in Odesa district. They are ready to spend 122 million hryvnias on the construction.

Mykolaiv region is also looking for a contractor to overhaul a radiation shelter at an educational institution in the village of Stepkivka, Pervomaisk district.
