Mykolaiv region is looking for a contractor to overhaul a radiation shelter at an educational institution in the village of Stepkivka, Pervomaisk district.

The relevant information was published in the Prozorro electronic procurement system.

On April 4, the tender was announced by the Department of Urban Planning, Architecture, Capital Construction and Development Project Support of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.

Participants have until April 18 to submit their proposals, and the winner will be determined on April 20 in the format of an open tender with special conditions. All construction work must be completed by December 31, 2026. UAH 19 million 347 thousand is planned to be allocated from the budget for the restoration of the bunker.

The project envisages a complete renovation of the shelter's infrastructure. It is planned to install new electric lighting and power equipment, cold and hot water supply, sewage, ventilation and heating systems. The shelter is to be equipped with a fire alarm and evacuation system, a methane alarm and commissioning. It is also planned to provide communication facilities - telephone, Internet and radio. Particular attention will be paid to the arrangement of conditions for people with limited mobility, including lifting platforms. In addition, an external sewerage system will be installed and all necessary equipment and facilities will be purchased.

Stepkivska gymnasium is a municipal general secondary education institution with a primary school. The school currently has 103 students, with a maximum capacity of 392 students.

According to media reports, in November 2023, construction workers excavated the foundation for a shelter to insulate the school in Pervomaisk district, but the work was stopped. Students were sent to remote learning, and parents became worried, suspecting that they were trying to bring the school to an emergency condition. As the gymnasium principal explained, the shelter was being built from 2019 to 2022, but in November, the insulation work was suspended due to changes in building codes. The contract with the previous contractor was terminated, and now they are waiting for the project to be adjusted. According to the department, the work should resume after the adjustment, which is expected to be completed by the end of April.

In Mykolaiv region, the construction of a bomb shelter in a sports complex is planned. The project, worth more than UAH 20 million, will provide adequate conditions for training and sports events even in crisis situations.
