On October 14, Oleksiy Goncharenko, a member of parliament from Odesa, was officially expelled from the "European Solidarity" parliamentary faction.

He announced this after the decision was read from the floor of the Verkhovna Rada.

“I have been expelled from the ‘European Solidarity’ faction. This was just announced from the floor of the Rada,” the politician stated.

Goncharenko thanked his colleagues for 12 years of working together and stated that he would continue to work for Ukraine.

Oleksiy Goncharenko is a single-member district representative and was elected to the Verkhovna Rada from District No. 137 in the Odesa region. Therefore, his expulsion from the faction does not mean he has lost his parliamentary seat.

Goncharenko was not a member of the “European Solidarity” party, but he was a member of the parliamentary faction of the same name. He currently serves on the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Budgetary Affairs.

Since the announcement, Goncharenko has become an independent lawmaker.

As previously reported by Intent, on October 5, the “European Solidarity” faction announced the expulsion of Oleksiy Goncharenko from its ranks. The faction attributed this decision to ideological differences and stated that the MP’s position on ending the war and Ukraine’s future security system diverged from that of the faction.

In particular, Goncharenko’s statements regarding ending the war were cited as the reason. On October 2, he outlined his own vision for a settlement and called for negotiating with Russia “about everything under the sun,” arguing that Ukraine was losing the war. In response, “European Solidarity” emphasized that peace for Ukraine must not mean surrender.

In addition, following his controversial statements about ending the war, Goncharenko was added to the“Myrotvorets” database. This occurred shortly after the faction’s decision to expel the politician from its ranks.
