Gas explosion kills two children in Mykolaiv region

In the evening of March 15, the Rescue Service 101 received information about an incident in the village of Bratske. According to preliminary data, a household gas explosion occurred in a private residential building, which led to the destruction of the structures. According to preliminary information, there were probably children under the rubble of the building.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Mykolaiv region.

Rescuers were the first to remove a boy born in 2017 from the rubble. The child was promptly handed over to an ambulance and hospitalized in a moderate condition. During further search operations, specialists found two more children - girls born in 2014 and 2022. They were pulled out of the rubble unconscious. Despite the efforts of the medics who performed resuscitation at the scene of the tragedy, they failed to save the girls' lives.

The children's mother, a woman born in 1997, was thrown to the yard by a powerful blast wave. She is currently hospitalized with 2-3 degree burns of the head and hands. Fifteen rescuers and four units of the State Emergency Service were involved in the aftermath of the incident , with active assistance from police officers and local residents. Experts are currently establishing the circumstances and causes of the explosion.

Earlier, three people, two of them teenagers, were poisoned by carbon monoxide in Mykolaiv region. The incident occurred in the village of Pryvilne of the Pryvilnyanska community in Bashtanka district. In particular, a woman born in 1976 and two girls born in 2015 and 2013 were poisoned due to a malfunctioning heating system in a stove. The victims have been hospitalized in stable condition.

It should be reminded that this is the fifth case of carbon monoxide poisoning in the region since the beginning of the year. A total of 13 people were injured, seven of them children.
