Former MP appointed to head Odesa Medical University

The Ministry of Healthcare has appointed Stanislav Schneider, Head of the Department of General Dentistry, as acting rector of Odesa Medical University.

He announced this in his order confirming that he had taken up his duties.

Earlier, the Odesa District Administrative Court suspended the order of the Ministry of Health to hold a competition to fill the position of rector of Odesa National Medical University.

Stanislav Schneider is the Head of the Department of General Dentistry at ONMedU, Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Vice President of the Ukrainian Dental Association. In 1988, he graduated from Odesa Medical School No. 1 with honors as a dental technician, then worked as a dental technician at the Odesa Regional Clinical Dental Polyclinic, and in 1995 he graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry of Odesa State Medical University.

From 1997 to 2012, he worked as the head of the dental department of the City Andrology Center. In 2002, he defended his PhD thesis and was appointed as an assistant at the Department of Prosthetic Dentistry at Odesa State Medical University, and in 2006 he was promoted to associate professor of the same department. In 2012, he defended his doctoral dissertation, and since September 2013 he has been the Head of the Department of General Dentistry at ONMedU.

Since February 2014, he has been the head of the Institute of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, and in the same year he was awarded the title of professor. From 2006 to 2010, he was a deputy of the Odesa City Council, Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Protection of Cultural Heritage and in 2010 graduated from the Odesa National Law Academy with honors in Law.
