Environmental damage caused by Russian attack on Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi reached a quarter of a million

Specialists from the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District investigated the consequences of the air strike on Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi that was carried out by the Russians on the evening of May 12 and estimated the damage at 230,000 hryvnias.

According to the inspection, the total mass of carbon dioxide emissions into the air amounted to about 75 tons.

As a result of the shelling, a three-story building and a residential building caught fire in the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky. The total area of the fire was 950 square meters.

The municipality of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in Odesa region reported an attack by the Russians in the morning of May 12. As a result of the Russian strike on the city, a number of civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged, including private homes.

Earlier, specialists from the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Southwestern District investigated the consequences of a missile strike on Odesa by Russians on the evening of April 22 and estimated the damage at more than UAH 1.2 million.

Specialists of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District also investigated the consequences of the missile strike on Odesa by Russians on the night of April 21-22 and estimated the total damage at UAH 583,000. The mass of carbon dioxide emissions into the air then amounted to almost 192 tons, and the total area of the fire was 2,420 square meters.

Environmental inspectors calculated the environmental damage caused by a Russian drone attack in the Peresypskyi district of Odesa on the night of April 13-14, 2025. Then, as a result of enemy shelling, the warehouses of a private enterprise caught fire. The total area of the fire was about 1,000 square meters. According to environmental services, the fire released almost 80 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The estimated amount of environmental damage exceeded UAH 241 thousand.

However, one of the largest environmental damages to Odesa was caused by the missile strikes on Odesa by the Russians on March 10, 2025, which amounted to more than a billion hryvnias.
