The Security Service of Ukraine detained a cashier of a state-owned bank branch in Odesa on suspicion of cooperation with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
According to the SBU, the enemy was most interested in the personal data of the Defense Forces servicemen who used the bank's services. According to available information, the occupiers planned to use this data to prepare terrorist attacks, information sabotage and recruitment operations against Ukrainian defenders.
To obtain intelligence, the FSB remotely recruited a 56-year-old Odesa resident who worked as a cashier at a local branch of a state-owned bank. The woman came to the attention of the Russian secret service when she posted anti-Ukrainian comments under posts on Telegram channels.
On the instructions of the enemy, while performing cash transactions, the suspect paid special attention to visitors in military uniforms and with signs of injuries sustained in hostilities. Upon identifying such customers, she immediately reported to her FSB supervisor. In addition, outside of working hours, the woman walked around the port city and its surroundings and took pictures of the places where the Defense Forces personnel were concentrated.
SBU investigators have now served the suspect a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law.
Earlier in Odesa, a Russian agent who collected coordinates of the Ukrainian military for drone and missile strikes was detained, who turned out to be a 52-year-old local resident. After being recruited, the man monitored the location of radar stations, anti-aircraft missile systems and mobile air defense groups defending the skies over Odesa. During air raids, the agent would drive around the city trying to record the work of Ukrainian air defense, taking pictures of fortifications and military locations on the coast. He sent the collected data to his FSB supervisor.
