Kherson resident sentenced to 10 years in prison for spreading Russian propaganda

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The post says that a local resident was found guilty of carrying out information activities in cooperation with the aggressor state (Part 6 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) for supporting the public prosecution of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property. The defendant was also deprived of the right to hold positions in state authorities, public administration, local self-government or bodies providing public services for a period of 15 years.

It is noted that before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the convict worked as a journalist in a local media outlet. It is proved that during the occupation of Kherson, the man cooperated with the enemy and began to support the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the media, spreading the rhetoric of the "Russian world". He became the editor-in-chief of a propaganda publication, whose activities were aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian authorities and its leaders, destabilizing the internal situation in Ukraine, and justifying the actions of the Russian Armed Forces.

The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the SBU Office in Kherson region.

Earlier it was reported that under the procedural supervision of the Kherson Regional and Beryslav District Prosecutor's Offices, two residents of the region were served in absentia with a notice of suspicion of collaboration (Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In their pseudo-offices, they performed organizational, administrative and economic functions in illegally created authorities, formed the apparatus of the pseudo-authority, communal enterprises and institutions, and implemented the occupation policy in various spheres of community life.

It was also reported that an official of the occupation government in Kherson region was sentenced to 10 years in prison
