Editor-in-chief of the occupiers' newspaper in Kherson region gets 12 years in prison

(Halyna Yermyshko.)

The Ivano-Frankivsk City Court sentenced in absentia the editor-in-chief of the occupation newspaper, Halyna Yermyshko, to 12 years in prison. She was found guilty of collaboration and ordered to confiscate all her property.

This is evidenced by the relevant court verdict .

According to the investigation, in the fall of 2023, Yermyshko voluntarily agreed to head the press service of the occupation administration of the village of Kalanchak on the left bank of the Kherson region. In addition, she was directly involved in the creation of the propaganda newspaper Kalanchaksky Visnyk and became its editor-in-chief.

Before the full-scale invasion, the traitor was well known in the region. She headed the editorial office of the Kalanchak district newspaper "Slava Truda" for more than 25 years, was a member of the Party of Regions and a member of the village council. In 2010, the President of Ukraine awarded her the title of Honored Journalist of Ukraine.

Yermyshko began her career in 1980 as a journalist at thePryazovska Pravda newspaper in Genichesk. In 1985, she graduated from the Faculty of Journalism at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The former director of a Kherson school was sentenced to 12 years in prison for turning the school into a platform for the introduction of Russian educational standards. He organized the admission of students, managed the educational process and controlled the school himself.

The collaborator's actions began in July 2022, immediately after the occupation administration officially created a new educational institution based on Russian standards on the basis of a local communal school.

During the occupation, the school completely switched to Russian educational standards. New curricula were introduced, textbooks were imported from Russia, and the Ukrainian language was actually withdrawn from the educational process. The collaborator organized the admission of students to the school according to Russian standards, selected teachers, supervised the implementation of educational programs and ensured the operation of the institution.
