The Kherson City Court sentenced a resident of Kakhovka who collaborated with the enemy. Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, she was found guilty of collaboration (Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The court sentenced the woman to 10 years in prison with confiscation of all her property. She is also banned from holding positions in state and local government for 15 years.

Based on the facts proved by the investigation, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office secured a guilty verdict for a resident of Kakhovka who took an active part in the political legalization of the occupation regime.

The investigation established that, while in the temporarily occupied territory, the woman voluntarily joined the ranks of the Russian 'Liberal Democratic Party'. In September 2022, as a representative of this political force, she received a mandate from the so-called 'Council of Deputies of the Kakhovka Municipal District of the first convocation'.

During the very first 'session' of this illegally created body, the convict was elected a member of the 'Standing Committee on Budgetary Issues, Economy and Investments'. In this position , she participated in the meetings of the pseudo-council, actually helping to legalize the decisions and orders of the occupation administration. Her activities were aimed at implementing the legal framework of the aggressor country in the occupied territories of Kherson region.

Given that the woman continues to be in the territory not controlled by Ukraine, the sentence was passed in absentia. According to Part 5 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, she will begin to serve her sentence only after her actual detention by law enforcement. The special pre-trial investigation in this case was conducted by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Kherson region.
