A Crimean "politician" who supports the war and calls for the liquidation of the Ukrainian government has been convicted.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

The post says that under the public prosecution of the autonomy's prosecutor's office, the "head of the council of the socialist political party "Fair Russia - Patriots for Truth" in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, who conducts information activities to the detriment of Ukraine's security in the interests of the occupying state, was sentenced in absentia to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was found guilty of committing actions aimed at the violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or the seizure of state power (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (Part 1 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), as well as justifying, recognizing as lawful, denying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorifying its participants (Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Thus, prosecutors proved in court that after the full-scale invasion of Russia, the convict began to disseminate materials supporting the armed aggression against Ukraine through his own social networks. He endorsed the holding of an illegal pseudo-referendum in 2022 on the "reunification" of the temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions with the territory of Russia, compared the political system in Ukraine to fascism and called for the liquidation of the Ukrainian government.

The forensic linguistic examination confirmed that the "politician's" speeches contained public calls to support the decisions and actions of the aggressor state and non-recognition of the extension of Ukraine's state sovereignty to the temporarily occupied territories.

The special pre-trial investigation was conducted by the SBU investigators in the AR of Crimea.
