An occupation judge who prosecuted Ukrainians in Crimea was sentenced to 13 years in prison for treason.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

The report says that under the public prosecution of the autonomy's prosecutor's office, a former judge of the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol, who prosecuted Ukrainians in the Crimean peninsula, was sentenced in absentia. He was found guilty of high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and sentenced to 13 years in prison with confiscation of property.

It is noted that prosecutors proved in court that in 2014 the citizen of Ukraine betrayed his oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people and went over to the enemy, taking the position of a "judge" in the occupation Kyiv District Court of Simferopol. Administering "justice" on behalf of and in the interests of the aggressor state, the convict ensured the functioning of the occupation judiciary on the peninsula, and assisted representatives of a foreign state in conducting subversive activities against Ukraine to the detriment of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Earlier it was reported that an occupation judge from Crimea was sentenced to 15 years in prison for treason and collaboration. Prosecutors proved in court that in 2022 the convict voluntarily took up the position of a "judge" in the occupation Kerch City Court of the Republic of Crimea. Guided by the legislation of the Russian Federation, she held more than 300 court hearings on civil and administrative "cases". In particular, the convict made an illegal decision to deprive a Ukrainian of the right to own a land plot in the city of Kerch, arguing that Ukrainian citizens on the territory of the occupied peninsula are "foreigners" and have no right to own their own land.
