The Crimean civilian journalist Vilen Temeryanov, convicted in Russia, was taken from the SIZO-1 in Rostov-on-Don to the hospital.

This was reported by his wife Elmaz Temeryanova to Crimean Solidarity.

According to her, she learned about her husband's hospitalization from the wife of one of his cellmates. She was told that Temerianov was taken for surgery to remove a fatty tumor.

"I was surprised, because I knew nothing about the existence of this fatty tumor," said Elmaz Temeryanova.

The woman tried to get information from SIZO-1 in Rostov-on-Don, but they refused to disclose the journalist's whereabouts. She was then advised to go directly to the hospital.

In MOTL-19, an interregional tuberculosis hospital where prisoners are treated, they said that they could provide information only after an official request.

The journalist's wife notes that she has not had any contact with her husband for more than two weeks and is worried about his health.

Vilen Temerianov is a citizen journalist and correspondent for Crimean Solidarity and Grani.ru. Russian security forces detained him in 2022 on charges of participating in Hizb ut-Tahrir and allegedly preparing a sabotage in Crimea on the orders of Ukrainian intelligence.

In 2023, the journalist was illegally transferred from the temporarily occupied Crimea. During his stay in the detention center, he reported deteriorating eyesight and health problems.

In November 2025, Vilen Temerianov was sentenced to 14 years in prison in the case of the "first Dzhankoy group" of Hizb ut-Tahrir.

As a reminder, as of October 11, 2024, at least 29 civilian Ukrainian media workers, most of them from Crimea, are in Russian captivity.

Most of the journalists on the list are from Crimea (18 of them), including Crimean Tatar civilian journalists who are accused of involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned in Russia, and preparing a sabotage in Crimea on the orders of Ukrainian intelligence.

On October 10, 2024, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War confirmed the death of journalist Victoria Roshchyna in Russian captivity.
