The village of Posad-Pokrovske in Kherson Oblast is being restored after it was almost completely destroyed during the fighting. Construction and repair of hundreds of houses is already underway, as well as preparations for the creation of new social facilities.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.

According to Oleksiy Kuleba, Minister of Communities and Territories Development, the main goal is to return people's homes and create safe living conditions: houses, utility networks, social facilities and infrastructure are being restored.

About 700 buildings in the village were damaged or destroyed, including housing, a school, medical facilities and administrative buildings. The first stage of reconstruction is underway: 362 houses are being built and repaired. Of these, 263 are being built from scratch and 99 are undergoing major repairs. All the houses will be handed over on a turnkey basis with utilities and interior decoration.

In addition, 51 families have already received compensation under the eRestoration program, and another 37 houses have been restored with the support of charitable organizations. Around 450 construction workers and dozens of units of equipment are working on the sites every day. Electricity supply in the village has been fully restored, gas supply is half complete, and only a part of the households have water supply. All works are expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The second phase involves the construction of 238 more houses, a new outpatient clinic, a safety center, a kindergarten, a school with shelters, and the arrangement of an Urban Park and a local market. Additionally, it is planned to install solar panels.

Currently, about 800 people live in Posad Pokrovsky, including 110 children. The authorities emphasize that the restoration of housing and the launch of social infrastructure create conditions for residents to stay in their native village and develop the community.

Since the end of February, the Kherson Oblast Reconstruction Service has started announcing tenders for housing repairs in villages affected by Russian shelling. In March 2022, the village of Posad-Pokrovske on the border of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions found itself right on the front line and remained in the zone of fierce fighting for more than eight and a half months. Despite constant attacks, the occupiers have not been able to capture it.

It is also planned to create a trade town in Posad Pokrovsky to sell agricultural products of local producers. The project envisages modern and comfortable conditions for trade and the development of economic cooperation in the region. The restoration of Posad Pokrovsky in 2025 was the most expensive frontline construction project in Ukraine.
