A yellow alert has been issued in Odesa due to thunderstorms and strong winds

Thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind are expected in Odesa and the Odesa region overnight and in the morning of July 28. Meteorologists have issued a Level I hazard warning (yellow).

This was reported by the Odesa City Council.

According to the forecast, during the thunderstorm, gusts of northwesterly wind will reach 15–17 m/s.

The City Council urged residents and visitors to Odesa to monitor changes in weather conditions, limit travel around the city if possible, and exercise extra caution near trees, as branches may fall and power lines may snap due to the severe weather.

Drivers are also advised not to park their vehicles under trees, near power lines, or on storm drain grates. In the event of flooding, municipal services will promptly provide updates on changes to traffic patterns.

Separately, city officials emphasized that it is dangerous to be on the coast. Due to the storm in the Black Sea, the risk of mines is increasing, so visiting beaches is not recommended.

Recently, on the morning of July 22, a heavy downpour accompanied by a thunderstorm swept through Odesa, causing streets to flood and disrupting traffic in some areas.

Themost difficultsituationarose on Balkivska Street, where, due to flooding near the bus station, traffic was temporarily restricted on the section from Malovskyi Street to Righteous Among the Nations Street (Chervonoslobodska).

Traffic was also halted onFrantsuzsky Boulevardnear building No. 34, where utility workers are removing a tree that was knocked down by the storm.

Earlier, as a result ofthe severe weatheron September 30, nine people died in Odesa, including one child. The storm caused significant damage: flooded roads, power outages, property damage, and fallen trees.
