A resident of Nova Kakhovka has been notified that he is suspected of collaboration and aiding the aggressor state. According to the investigation, during the occupation, he voluntarily took charge of a college established by the Russians at a local vocational school and worked to Russify it.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

While serving in a position under the occupiers, the suspect ensured the integration of the educational institution into the Russian Federation’s educational system. He organized the transition to Russian curricula, implemented record-keeping in Russian, and replaced Ukrainian textbooks and symbols with Russian ones.

In addition, the man urged the teaching staff to seek employment at the educational institution established by the occupiers. He also recruited staff and students and ensured the college’s registration in Russian state registries.

Earlier, a former official from the Kherson region, Natalia Shcherbak, was sentenced. In August 2023, she headed the so-called “Kakhovka Territorial Election Commission,” established by the Russian Federation’s occupation administration. She organized the preparation and conduct of sham elections to the illegal “Council of Deputies”: she issued credentials to members of precinct commissions, compiled voter lists, certified the voting results, and participated in the first meeting of the occupying body.
