The Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor's Office served a notice of suspicion to a resident of Kherson who publicly justified Russian aggression. According to the investigation, the suspect became the star of one of the propaganda media, where he actively glorified the actions of the aggressor country in his comments.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
In August 2022, the 61-year-old man voluntarily took part in a political event of the invaders, where he received a Russian passport. The defendant accompanied his choice with an interview for pro-Russian media. In his speech, he openly praised the aggressor country and declared his long-standing desire to "become a citizen of the Russian Federation.
The occupiers used the video with these confessions to create propaganda stories, spreading it on social media to create the illusion of mass support for the occupation. Currently, the Kherson resident is charged with justifying the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. He faces up to 8 years in prison with possible confiscation of property for his "sincerity" on the camera of propagandists.
Also, a former director of a garment factory from Kherson region is suspected of collaboration. She did not just participate in the "deputy" elections, but actually legitimized the occupiers and built local trust in Russia.
The court considered the motion of the SBU investigator to impose a pre-trial restraint on Tatiana Novodranova, a resident of Oleshky, who is suspected of collaboration. The woman is charged under part one of Article 28 and part five of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the woman took part in illegal elections to the so-called "Council of Deputies of the Aleshki Municipal District of the first convocation" organized by the occupation authorities and their controlled entities.
