The former head of the Main Directorate of the State Geocadastre in the Kherson region will stand trial for transferring 50 hectares of land in a resort area of the region to a relative. According to investigators, the defendant coordinated the entire process, from the preparation of technical documentation to the state registration of ownership rights.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the case file, in 2019, the official facilitated the transfer of 25 land plots, each measuring 2 hectares, into private ownership in the Skadovsk District. Local residents became the nominal owners after signing the necessary documents in exchange for compensation. In the contracts, the parties listed an inflated value for the land. As a result, 50 hectares were purchased for 560,000 hryvnias, although, according to a forensic appraisal, their market value was over 3.3 million hryvnias.

A civil claim for damages has also been filed as part of the proceedings. To ensure its enforcement, property registered in the name of the defendant’s wife has been seized.

Previously,in the Kherson region, a state registrar with the executive committee was suspected of land fraud . According to law enforcement, the official repeatedly entered false information regarding ownership of land plots. The registration actions were carried out based on documents containing false information. Some of the land was allegedly registered in the names of people who had already changed their last names, were abroad, were deceased, or had never even filed applications to register ownership rights.

According to the case file, in just three instances, the community suffered losses of 152,000, 460,000, and 308,000 hryvnias. In total, the civil claim in the criminal proceedings amounts to 920,000 hryvnias.
