A deputy from the Kherson region is suspected of treason for voluntarily taking a position in an illegal government body during the occupation. According to the investigation, she helped the occupiers manage the community and passed on information about local residents.

This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

A deputy of the Velyka Lepetykha village council was served in absentia with a notice of suspicion of treason and collaboration with the occupiers. It is a 69-year-old woman who, according to the investigation, in the fall of 2022 agreed to cooperate with representatives of the occupation administration and took the position of the so-called director of the territorial social service center established by the occupation authorities.

Already in December of that year, she registered this "territorial center" in the state register of the Russian Federation, after which she actually acted as the head of the institution - responsible for its economic and financial activities. In addition, she personally hired local residents and forced them to follow the rules established by the occupation administration and the Russian military. She also passed the lists of community residents to the occupiers.

The investigation believes that the suspect actively involved locals in the issuance of Russian passports and distributed pro-Russian propaganda materials among socially vulnerable groups. In some cases, she offered people financial assistance in exchange for loyalty to the occupation authorities.

The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing. The woman was charged with high treason and voluntarily holding a position in an illegal authority under Part 2 of Article 111, Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The deputy of the Genichesk City Council is also suspected of treason for cooperating with the occupation authorities and conducting business activities within the legal framework of the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, he headed a sanatorium that housed Russian military and law enforcement officials.

In addition, the official was involved in organizing propaganda activities aimed at supporting the actions of the aggressor country. Having access to the personal data of local residents who left the temporarily occupied territory, the suspect settled the occupants in their homes.
