The Holodomor is a mass artificial famine of 1932–1933 on the territory of Ukraine, organized by the leadership of the USSR as a result of forced collectivization. It was a genocide of the Ukrainian people, as a result of which millions of people died. The Holodomor remains one of the most tragic pages in the history of Ukraine and a subject of historical research, memorialization, and public memory.
