Cases of state treason in Ukraine
Treason is a state crime that consists of betrayal of the state, transmission of state secrets to the enemy, cooperation with occupying authorities, or other activities aimed against the sovereignty and security of Ukraine. This term covers criminal cases against persons who violated their oath of loyalty to the state, transmitted confidential information to the adversary, or assisted occupying forces during Russian aggression. Such crimes are prosecuted by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, in particular the SBU, and are punished severely — from long-term imprisonment to life imprisonment.
