In southern Ukraine, the situation regarding Russian attacks has changed amid a local ceasefire in the area around the occupied town of Oleshky. On October 27 and 28, there were reports of no shelling in the Kherson region, as well as a calmer situation in the Mykolaiv and Odesa regions.

On the morning of October 28, the Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that no shelling had been recorded in the region during the previous day, October 27.

This stands in stark contrast to the situation the day before, when Russian drones and aircraft attacked 36 settlements. At that time, residential neighborhoods and cars were on fire, and three people were injured, including a child.

Early on the morning of October 29, the Kherson Regional State Administration reported that over the past 24 hours, no shelling or strikes on civilian or critical infrastructure facilities had been recorded in the region. There were no casualties or injuries among the civilian population.

In the Mykolaiv region, no air raid alerts were issued on October 27 and 28. The last alert sounded on the night of October 27, around 2:00 a.m., shortly before the ceasefire began in the Kherson region. At that time, as reported, a ceasefire was implemented to facilitate a humanitarian operation in Oleshky.

This is also confirmed by reports from the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration over the past few days.

The Odesa City Military Administration reported that Odesa had spent the past two days without any enemy attacks.

On October 27, around 3:00 p.m., an alert was issued in the Odesa district. It was related to a drone in the Black Sea near Odesa. No landing was reported.

A ceasefire in the Oleshky area went into effect at 3:00 a.m. on October 27. It was implemented to deliver humanitarian aid to the city’s residents and to facilitate the safe evacuation of civilians. Under the agreement, the ceasefire is to last until the evening of November 1.

Ukraine and Russia agreed on a local ceasefire through the mediation of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump. The goal is to evacuate people from Oleshky who are suffering from hunger there.
