The occupation "governor" of Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, has been served with another suspicion. This time, he is suspected of stealing almost 3000 tons of Ukrainian grain.
This was reported by the press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The statement says that under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, the former deputy of the Kherson City Council was served in absentia with a notice of suspicion of ordering violations of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect became the so-called "governor" of Kherson region in 2022. As a senior executive in the occupied territory, he exerted pressure on local business representatives and facilitated the seizure and robbery of enterprises. In the fall of 2022, he ordered the creation of a temporary administration at the seized Kherson Bakery Plant, an enterprise that was engaged in the storage, processing, and shipment of grain products to sea, road, and rail transport. Its storage facilities held more than 30 thousand tons of grain and industrial crops belonging to various business entities. Realizing the interests of the military and political leadership of the Russian Federation to appropriate property assets of individuals and legal entities of Ukraine, the "governor" ordered to remove the grain from Kherson. As a result, the enemy managed to transport the 2021 barley harvest weighing 2859.99 tons and worth almost UAH 15 million from the occupied regional center to the Russian-controlled territories by three barges.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by the Main Department of the National Police in Kherson region.
Earlier, the "governor" was found guilty of high treason, collaboration, and denial of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine (under Part 2 of Article 111, Part 5 of Article 111-1, Part 1 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), supported by the public prosecution of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office. He was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment with disqualification to hold office for 15 years and confiscation of property.
