This fall, Lviv plans to transfer some of its trolleybuses to Odesa

Odesa will receive some of the trolleybuses from Lviv’s fleet, which the city plans to transfer to cities that regularly suffer from Russian attacks. The transfer of the vehicles is expected to take place in the coming months.

This was announced by Volodymyr Chubirko, a member of the Transcarpathian Regional Council .

According to him, Lviv will transfer part of its electric transit fleet to Odesa and Chernihiv. The aim is to support cities that regularly face problems with public transit and energy supply due to Russian attacks.

At the same time, Chubirko reported that preparations in Lviv to transfer 14 trolleybuses from the Czech Republic to another Ukrainian regional center are nearly complete.

“Trolleybuses are not just a mode of transportation. They provide people with stable and safe transportation, and for cities operating under extremely difficult conditions, this kind of support is particularly important,” the deputy noted.

During the meeting in Lviv, organizational and technical issues related to the transfer of the vehicles were also discussed. The transport of the trolleybuses and the ceremonial handover of documents are scheduled for November.

Chubirko emphasized that such cooperation allows Ukrainian communities to support one another during the war.

It is worth noting that on September 5, after several days of a forced hiatus, the city’s electric transit system resumed operations in Odesa. Trams and trolleybuses have returned to their routes, though they are currently operating in limited numbers.

The service interval for public transit is currently between10 and 20 minutes.

Public transit had been suspended in Odesa sinceSeptember 2due to a power shortage following a nighttime attack on the city’s energy infrastructure.
