A humanitarian mission is planned in the near future to assist residents of the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region. Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets and Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova will participate in organizing the mission, with the support of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump.
This was announced by Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament’s Commissioner for Human Rights.
According to him, Melania Trump is helping to coordinate efforts to carry out the humanitarian mission. Lubinets thanked the U.S. First Lady for her mediation and assistance in creating the conditions necessary to rescue Ukrainian citizens.
The Ombudsman noted that it is now important to gather as much information as possible about the people who remain in Oleshky and need assistance. This primarily concerns the elderly, people with limited mobility, and those who cannot take care of themselves independently.
Lubinec reported that he is maintaining contact with the parties involved, government agencies, and local authorities.
He urged anyone with information about Oleshky residents who need help to contact the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine and to spread the word about the planned mission.
As Intent previously reported, European Parliament Vice President Pina Picerno agreed to end her hunger strike. She did so after agreements were reached on a local ceasefire and the establishment of a humanitarian corridor to the temporarily occupied town of Oleshky.
