In Berlin, people called for the rescue of residents of occupied Oleshky

On Monday evening in Berlin, a march was held in support of the residents of the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, who are suffering from a shortage of food, drinking water, and medicine. The protesters demanded that humanitarian access to the city be ensured and that civilians be safely evacuated.

The rally, held under the slogan “Stop the Russian occupation of Oleshky,”was organized by the Ukrainian civic movement Vitsche Berlin. Participants gathered near the Red Town Hall—Berlin’s city hall—and then marched through the center of the German capital, past the German Foreign Ministry, to the Russian Embassy.
March participants carried signs calling for the rescue of residents of occupied Oleshky, the provision of humanitarian aid, and the opening of safe evacuation routes.

The activists called on German authorities and the international community to pay attention to the humanitarian situation in the city, increase pressure on Russia, and secure access to people still living under occupation.

During the rally, speakers addressed the critical humanitarian situation in Oleshky and the surrounding communities. According to the organizers, more than 6,000 people remain there, including about 200 children.

According to the rally participants, people are suffering from a shortage of food, drinking water, medicine, and other essential aid. The organizers also stated that Russian occupation forces are obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of civilians.
Recently, Gauleiter Volodymyr Saldo stated that a mandatory evacuation from the city is not currently planned, despite the fact that he himself described the humanitarian situation there as “the most difficult.”
Earlier, local residents reported that there was almost no food left in the city, and people were surviving by cooking purslane from their own gardens. According to reports, there have already been cases of starvation there.
