Kherson Community Launches Social Taxi for People with Disabilities

Residents of the Kherson community who have difficulty moving around can use a social taxi service.

According to Roman Mrochko, the head of the Kherson MBA, the social taxi service is available to people with disabilities and low mobility within the Kherson territorial community.

"Social Taxi provides transportation to hospitals, social institutions, the Pension Fund, registry offices, ASCs, banking institutions, and designated evacuation sites," the official said.

According to him, at least 57 people used taxi services last week. Most of the requests were for transportation of people to/from healthcare facilities, and people with limited mobility were able to get to the Department of Labor and Social Protection, the Main Department of the State Tax Service in Kherson region, the Pension Fund of Ukraine in Kherson and return home.

Mrochko also noted that the social taxi service is available to people with disabilities and low mobility within the Kherson territorial community.

"Social Taxi" provides transportation to hospitals, social institutions, the Pension Fund, registry offices, ASCs, banking institutions, and designated evacuation sites. It does not provide transportation to/from markets or shops, to visit friends and relatives," he added.

The head of the MBA also reminded that the "social taxi" is a joint project implemented by the Kherson City Center for Social Services for Family, Children and Youth with the support of the Kherson City Military Administration, the NGO"Strong Because Free" with the support of the St. Martin de Porres Foundation and the charity foundation "Real." with the support of the NGO "Stan", the international organization "Action Aid", the Danish Rotary Club "Skivehus Rotary Klub" and the international non-governmental organization "Nonviolent Peaceforce".

The following people can use the social taxi service within the Kherson territorial community

  • people with musculoskeletal disorders;
  • Children with disabilities (accompanied by an adult);
  • people who have been injured after shelling and cannot move independently;
  • people with chronic diseases that limit their ability to move independently.

Applications are accepted 2 days prior to the trip from 9.00 to 16.00 (except Saturdays and Sundays) by calling +38 098 018 08 08. Due to the security situation, applications from Sadove and Antonivka, as well as parts of Dniprovskyi district, may not be accepted. However, restrictions may change depending on the security situation and weather conditions.
