The Odesa Combined Heat and Power Plant is to be charged more than 750,000 hryvnias for electricity consumed in January–March 2021. The company disagreed with the court’s decision and filed an appeal, the hearing of which has been postponed until November.

This is stated in a ruling by the Southwestern Commercial Court of Appeals.

The lawsuit against JSC “Odesa CHP” was filed by the state-owned enterprise “Ukrinterenergo.” In July, the Commercial Court of Odesa Oblast granted its claims and ordered the CHP to pay 750,517 hryvnias.

This amount consists of several parts:

  • 305,063 hryvnias—debt for electricity consumed;
  • 174,093 hryvnias – compensation for the depreciation of money due to inflation;
  • 42,125 hryvnias—late payment penalty;
  • 229,236 hryvnias – additional charges at an annual rate of 15%.

The Odesa Thermal Power Plant asked the appellate court to overturn the decision and deny Ukrinterenergo’s claim. A final decision on the appeal has not yet been issued.

The hearing was originally scheduled for October 13, 2026. However, the hearing was postponed because the presiding judge will be on leave.

The appeal will now be heard on November 3, 2026, at the Southwestern Commercial Court of Appeals in Odesa. A representative of “Ukrinterenergo” will be able to participate in the hearing online.

As previously reported by Intent, the Odesa Thermal Power Plant filed a lawsuit against the municipal enterprise “Odesa City Heat Supply” to recover 3.18 billion hryvnias in debt.
