The number of companies that have media licenses in Odesa region is 200, which is less than in Lviv region and Kyiv region.

This was reported by analysts of the Opendatabot platform.

At the same time, there are only seven more such companies in Lviv region than in Odesa region, while in Kyiv region there are 1,107. There are 57 companies with media licenses in Mykolaiv region and 33 in Kherson region. In total, there are currently 6,995 valid media licenses in Ukraine. Most of them are held by Ukrainian companies and individual entrepreneurs, and only 42 are held by foreign TV channels and radio stations. A total of 3,160 media owners are listed in the Register, 10 of whom are foreign.

Among foreign media, the most common are broadcasters from the United Kingdom, Gibraltar, and the United States. More than half of all registrants are print media: 1,675 companies or individuals. Online media account for another 27% - 870. Audiovisual service providers round out the top three: 309 companies or individual entrepreneurs (9.8%). These are platforms and services that provide access to media content via the Internet (e.g. Megogo, Sweet.tv, Kyivstar TV), cable operators and satellite operators (e.g. Viasat, Xtra TV). It is worth noting that one registrant can hold several types of licenses.

Igor Tril holds the record among FOPs for the number of valid media licenses: 119. He is the founder of the Diana Plus publishing house, which has been operating for more than 20 years and creates print newspapers and magazines. Taras Khotymchuk, the founder of the regional weekly Your Choice and the t1.ua portal, ranks second with 85 licenses. The top five also includes Oksana Tanasiychuk (53 licenses), who is also associated with the Diana Plus publishing house, Andriy Lobachev (49), owner of the Kuzya publishing house, which specializes in children's educational publications, and Pavlo Khotymchuk (46), who owns the weekly You and I and the Whole Family and others.

Among companies, the figures are a bit more modest. Thus, the largest holder of media licenses is Art Complex Publishing House with 71 licenses. The company has been specializing in crossword puzzles and children's publications for over 25 years. It is followed by Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with 61 licenses, which publishes university newsletters and specialized publications for students. It is followed by Editorial Systems with 53 licenses. The company specializes in publishing regional newspapers on various topics. Ivan Franko University of Lviv is in fourth place with 50 licenses, which also publishes university newsletters and specialized publications. The top five is rounded out by Public Broadcasting with 45 licenses. The company unites nationwide TV channels (in particular, Pervyi, Suspilne Kultura, Suspilne Sport), radio stations (Ukrayinske Radio, Radio Promin, Radio Kultura) and digital platforms.

At the same time, media licenses are also held by companies whose main activity is far from journalism. For example, Energoatom, Epicenter K, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, and a number of other large enterprises can be found among media owners.
