Solar panels are being installed in three medical facilities in Mykolaiv Oblast. This will ensure autonomous operation in case of possible power outages.
This was announced by Oleg Babin, deputy head of the regional healthcare department.
According to him, all medical institutions in the region are equipped with the necessary sources of alternative energy, including generators and fuel for their operation. At the same time, the process of installing solar panels is underway to ensure operation in case of power outages.
"Given the likelihood of power outages, solar panels are being installed to ensure the hospitals' energy independence," said Oleg Babin.
"Solar panels have already been installed at Mykolaiv Regional Children's Hospital, Mykolaiv Children's Hospital No. 2, medical institutions in Bashtanka, Berezanka, Voznesensk, and primary healthcare centers No. 4 and No. 6.
Currently, the systems are being installed in Snihurivka Hospital, Pervomaisk Central Multidisciplinary Hospital, and City Hospital No. 3. The program will also include a polyclinic in Voznesensk and a medical facility in the Nechayanska community.
In August, Mykolaiv received funding for the installation of solar power plants at City Hospital No. 1 in the amount of 100 thousand euros. The local budget will allocate 5.5 thousand euros for the project.
The installation of a solar power plant will significantly reduce the utility's electricity costs and ensure the hospital's uninterrupted operation even during power outages. This will reduce the load on the general power grid and increase the energy sustainability of the institution.
The Mykolaiv Children's Hospital was equipped with a solar power plant in early May as part ofthe 50 Solar Hospitals project. The station meets the needs of critical departments in the main building: the operating room, surgical department, intensive care unit, newborn and premature baby unit, and maternity hospital.
Today, almost all medical facilities in Mykolaiv Oblast are equipped with generators, and several have solar panels. According to Iryna Tkachenko, head of the healthcare department of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, all hospitals are equipped with generators and provided with fuel, as this was a condition of the contract with the NHSU.
