In Kherson, the closing of the 28th International Theater Festival “Melpomene of Tavria” was marked by a poetry performance titled “Facets.” Six women’s stories were presented on stage, each featuring a different cast of six.

This was reported by Suspilne.Kherson.

The performance was based on poems by the renowned Kherson poet and Shevchenko Prize laureate Anatoliy Kychynskyi.

Ordinary city residents performed on stage alongside professional artists. Oleksandra Knyha played one of the leading roles in the performance—that of a volunteer. This character resonated deeply with her, as she is actively involved in volunteer work in the city in real life. Afterward, all participants received a prize—a watermelon.

This year’s“Melpomene of Tavria” festival was the twenty-eighth edition. Events took place in Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Kyiv, other cities in Ukraine, and abroad. In total, the program included 48 performances, 17 literary events, 13 educational events, and five musical performances. Specifically, eight theater performances took place in various districts of Kherson.

“Melpomene of Tavria” is an international theater festival that has also become one of Kherson’s symbols. It was founded in 1999. The festival continued even during the Russian occupation.
