One kilometer of roads in the Mykolaiv region cost taxpayers 103 million

The Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in the Mykolaiv region awarded the largest contracts by value last week. The contracts involve the repair of three highways with a total value of nearly 6 billion hryvnias.

Between September 12 and 19, approximately 73,000 procurement notices totaling 30.44 billion hryvnias were published on Prozorro. The largest contracts by value were for roadwork in the Mykolaiv region.

The most expensive contract was for the reconstruction of a 16-kilometer section of the M-14 Odesa–Melitopol–Novoazovsk highway. Its cost totaled 4.18 billion hryvnias, and “European Road Construction Company” LLC was selected as the contractor.

An additional 872.36 million hryvnias was allocated for the repair of a 34-kilometer section of the H-24 Blahovishchenske–Mykolaiv highway via Voznesensk. The work was to be carried out by the “Autostrada” group of companies.

A total of 655.51 million hryvnias was allocated for the major repair of a section of the R-55 Odesa–Voznesensk–Novy Bug highway stretching over five kilometers. The contract was awarded to “Avtomagistral-Pivden” LLC.

Together, these three contracts total approximately 5.71 billion hryvnias. According to media estimates, the nearly 6 billion hryvnias allocated for the repair of three roads in the Mykolaiv region represent about 8% of the 68 billion hryvnias that could have been allocated for roadwork next year.

The largest procurement involves the reconstruction of a section of the M-14 highway using a cement-concrete pavement. The documentation also lists prices for concrete and asphalt mixtures, crushed stone and sand materials, road barriers, and other components of the work.

Also in September, Mykolaiv Oblast commissioned additional repairs to a 10-kilometer section of the Mykolaiv–Domanivka–Berezky road for over 102 million hryvnias. The work was awarded without a competitive bidding process to a company that had previously received over 200 million hryvnias to repair the same section.
