In Odesa, actor Vasyl Skromnyi, who was remembered by millions of viewers for his role as the hooligan Makar Gusev in the cult Soviet film The Adventures of Elektronik, has passed away. It was his character with a hoarse voice and a defiant disposition who became one of the most vivid characters in the movie, which was watched by schoolchildren in the 1980s.
The news of his death was announced by his friend Viktor Derkach.
Vasyl Skromnyi was born in August 1964 in Odesa. As a child, he was an active and restless boy. He did not like school very much, but he had a cheerful and scrappy personality, which often led to his parents being called to the school. It was this type of personality that attracted the attention of director Konstantin Bromberg, who in 1979 was looking for young actors for the movie The Adventures of Elektronik.
Modest was the perfect choice for the role of the red-haired hooligan Makar Gusev. After the movie was released on television, it quickly became popular among teenagers. Many children repeated his character's lines, and the image of the mischievous schoolboy became one of the most beloved in the film-for many viewers, he seemed even closer than the main characters.
After the success of The Adventures of Elektronik, Skromnyi starred in several other film projects, including School, The Third Dimension, and The Combat. He also studied at the theater school at the Odesa Film Studio, but his acting career eventually took a back seat.
Growing up in a seaside town in a sailor's family, Vasyl decided to connect his life with the sea. After serving in the army in naval aviation, he entered a maritime school and later worked as a boatwright. Over the years, he has traveled to many countries around the world, including South America, Africa, Australia, and Cuba.
For several generations of viewers , Vasyl Skromnyi will forever remain the same red-haired boy from the movie The Adventures of Elektronik-a charismatic, loud, and slightly mischievous character who became a symbol of childhood in the 1980s.
According to his family, in recent months, Skromnyi has been struggling with a serious illness. Doctors diagnosed him with cancer. After the diagnosis was made, he was treated in Odesa hospitals - a course of chemotherapy, examinations and other procedures. The situation was complicated by heart problems that arose during treatment.
In February, Honored Artist of Ukraine Iryna Cherkaska, a longtime actress of the V. Vasylko Odesa Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theater, also died in Odesa.
