A former Ukrainian servicewoman from Crimea has been served with renewed suspicion of treason and desertion. In 2014, she stayed in the Russian-held unit in Novoozerne and signed a contract with the Russian armed forces.

This is stated in the suspicion of the Prosecutor General's Office.

The Mykolaiv Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region has updated the suspicion against Olena Tyshchenko, a former military officer who betrayed her oath of allegiance and joined the Russian armed forces in 2014. She is suspected of high treason (Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and desertion (Part 1 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, at the time of the offense, Tyshchenko was a senior sailor and worked as a clerk in the military unit A2157, which was stationed in Novoozerne near Yevpatoriya. In March 2014, the unit was seized by unmarked Russian troops. After that, the command ordered the personnel to relocate to Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region.

However, on May 13, 2014, Olena Tyshchenko did not report to her new place of service - instead, according to the prosecutor's office, she deliberately went over to the side of the aggressor state.

At a general formation of the personnel, the woman refused to perform her duties in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and stated that she was going over to the enemy. Later, she signed a contract with the Russian armed forces, which are now based in the same territory where the Ukrainian military unit was previously located.

The case is being investigated by the SBU Office in Mykolaiv region. The issue of putting the suspect on the wanted list is currently being decided.

For treason and desertion, Tyshchenko faces up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Another traitor, a former Crimean law enforcement officer, was sentenced to 14 years in prison with confiscation of property for treason and cooperation with the occupation authorities.

This is the former head of the Linear Police Department at Simferopol Airport, who did not leave the service after the annexation of Crimea, but, on the contrary, joined the so-called "Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs on Transport", which, according to the investigation, violated his oath and betrayed the state.
