A Russian informant who passed data on the movements of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kherson sector to the occupiers will be tried in Mykolaiv. The man was exposed by SBU counterintelligence officers and faces life imprisonment for treason.

This was reported by the SBU press service in Mykolaiv region.

In Mykolaiv, an investigation was completed into another informant of the Russian special services who transmitted data on the movement of Ukrainian equipment to the front line.

The offender was following the convoys of the Armed Forces of Ukraine moving along the roads of Mykolaiv region in the direction of Kherson region, trying to estimate the number of equipment, including heavy weapons.

The Russian intelligence service planned to adjust air strikes in real time based on the data obtained. The agent was a 44-year-old employee of a private company who attracted the aggressor's attention with pro-Russian comments on Telegram. He collected information through personal observations and open sources.

The SBU exposed the traitor in advance, recorded his actions and detained him at home. During the search, they seized his phone, which he used to transmit photos and coordinates of Ukrainian forces to his curator, Serhiy Lebedev, known as the blogger "Shaggy" from Donetsk. The communication was conducted through an anonymous chat in a messenger.

The man was served a notice of suspicion of high treason under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code). The indictment was submitted to the court, and the accused is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.

Recently, counterintelligence uncovered a spy network in the Mykolaiv region involving two leading design engineers of a defense plant. According to the investigation, they were recruited separately by the FSB through a mutual acquaintance, a former employee of the plant who now lives in Russia. One of the agents, following the instructions of his FSB supervisors, tried to pass classified technical materials to the enemy.

And in early May, in Mykolaiv, security forces detained a local resident who was passing intelligence to the occupiers to target the Ukrainian military. He faces up to 12 years in prison for disclosing information about the Armed Forces.
